Fengshui tips for the Year of the Pig HK geomancer predicts disaster in the US between June and July

AS the Year of the Dog has given way to the Year of the Pig, Hong Kong fengshui master Alion Yeo has a few tips for 2007 which he shared at an ABN Amro Private Banking Hong Kong seminar earlier this month.
In case you have not heard of him, Mr Yeo claims to have predicted the stock market dive in May 2005, North Korea's nuclear testing and to have advised that November was a good time to get back into the market.

In 2007, he expects a major earthquake in Japan between April and May. He also sees market volatility in Hong Kong from April to May and again in October to November. There could also be a major US event, a natural or man-made disaster, in June to July so be prepared for ripples to the rest of the world, he said.

It seems that in every lunar year, there are a couple of 'contradicting residence' stars that can be negative or positive depending on a person's birth date. In particular, those born in the Year of the Pig and Year of the Snake could experience major changes.
Snake people are born in 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989 and 2001, while Pig people are born in 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983 and 1995.

Those who are negatively affected should avoid 'ground-breaking activities' - which means no banging nails in walls, no construction and no decorating the house, in particular in a north-western direction, according to Mr Yeo. Surely not a good sign for those caught up in property speculation?

But the fengshui master offers some remedies. To boost your luck, put a water pillar or water plant on the entrance facing south-west. You can also wear a jade rabbit charm to avoid bad luck.

Everyone born from February to August will enjoy very good luck this year. But the rest need to be careful, Mr Yeo said.

Though those born in spring - that is, February to May - should avoid the wood-related business. Those born in winter - from October to February - need more fire, and can improve their luck by having red, pink and purple colours.

What Fire Pig year has in store

Fire and water elements will influence main events

SINGAPORE may have to host a Tiger Woods golf tournament to safeguard its water supply — hogwash for many, but for those who believe in the ways of geomancy, this is the advice of a feng shui guru about the upcoming Year of the Fire Pig.

According to the Chinese almanac, this month the Fire Pig takes over heavenly duties from the Fire Dog, who has kept watch this past year.

Calculating Singapore's bazi (or four pillars of destiny) from the date and time the Republic was born (or in this case gained independence), the island belongs to the Wood element, with a Snake in the year element, a Monkey in the month element, a Goat in the day element and a Snake in the time element, said Master John Lok from Fengshui0011.com.
"According to the bazi audit, Singapore favours the Water element, so the Pig year is generally good for Singapore," he said.

However, Singapore's source of Water may be challenged if the Pig clashes with the Snake and Monkey."This could refer to our real water supply, or the areas of transportation, logistics and tourism. We will need the Tiger element to help us out — for example, a Tiger Woods golf tournament," said Master Lok.
He also foresees more liberal policies to make Singapore less of a bore in the Pig year. "There will be a shift in focus from 'work' to 'play', or from 'business development' to 'social development', 'technology' to 'culture' and the like," he said.

The Fire Pig is also expected to take a shine to Earth-related industries as opposed to Metal-related ones.
This means that businesses such as property and construction, and health businesses related to the human body such as spas and slimming clinics, will do well.

In contrast, businesses related to Metal, such as mineral processing, financial services, jewellers and hardware supplies, may have a hard time, claims the feng shui master.
To continue bringing home the bacon, Master Lok suggested that these businesses diversify and focus on more Earth- or Water-related activities or business. He said: "Banks and financial companies could focus on housing or construction loans and property-related investments and insurance."

Master Tan Khoon Yong from Way OnNet Geomancy Centre, who correctly predicted that the ST Index would reach around 2,900 points last year, thinks that the STI will trade in the 3,300 to 3,500 range this year.
Master Vivien Ng from Vimac Trading and Services expects the STI to start rising in February, peak in April. "The second half of the year, especially the last quarter in November, may see turbulence and a downturn," she said.

The Fire Pig will channel auspicious energy to those born in the year of the Rat, Tiger, Dragon, Horse and Monkey, said Master Tony Tan of the Harmony Academy of Chinese Metaphysics.
"The rest of the animal signs will begin the year with a lower base, with things picking up faster for the animal signs of the Goat and Dog. People born in the Year of the Ox, Rabbit, Snake, Rooster and Pig need to exercise more diligence to emerge unscathed," he said.

Master Tan foresees a possible earthquake for Japan, and war in Iraq. Asia, however, will remain auspicious, except for the occasional threat of disease, which the geomancers think refers to the avian flu.
Master Lok prognosticates that countries — such as China, Russia, India, South Africa and the Middle East nations, will be on the ascent as well. Countries fall under the Earth element.

The Year of the Pig is a popular one for marriages, but will be moderate in terms of producing more squealers for Singapore.
"While the pig is a popular animal amongst the Chinese, it is not as auspicious as the Dragon, so I don't expect to see a baby boom," said Master Lok. He added that local celebrities Fann Wong and Christopher Lee — both Chinese Zodiac Pigs — should tie the knot this year. "On reading their signs, they should have married last year but didn't, and this resulted in some troublesome incidents for them," said Master Tan.

Extracts fm this site,

Chinese Zodiac says that the Year of the Golden Fire Pig comes only once every 600 years and rumor has it, 2007 is this special year. It is Golden because the combination of elemental Fire, the sign Pig, and Yin/Yang components bring this year once every six centuries!

It is said that children born under this sign will live in comfort as wealth and luck are always near. The Fire Pig is known to have traits of wealth, prosperity, luck and fertility but people in Korea and China have taken this “Golden” prophecy to new levels. Reports indicate that fertility is on the rise – over 10% in Korea and China – sparking the onslaught of everything from websites for “Golden Pig Mothers” to hotels creating special maternity “stay” packages for Fall 2007.

Adding more fuel to the Fire (no pun intended), many newlyweds tied to the knot in the Spring of 2006 since last year was known to be a year with two Springs. What does this mean? It means that couples married during this time would live happily and with much prosperity. Should be no surprise that with the Year of the Golden Pig upon us, and a double-whammy of the rainy-yet-lucky season in 2006, newlyweds are wasting no time getting pregnant. Hospitals and clinics all across China and Korea are seeing 20% to 50% increases in pregnant women visiting doctors or receiving counseling.

Comments - If the above is true for S'pore, Target Thomson Medical and Parkway :D
